I just want to give a shout-out for one of the most WONDERFUL movies ever made!!! I watched it again this past weekend and it lifted my spirits and brought me so much healing for my soul!
I want to dance like these Gypsies! Anybody know a teacher that teaches specifically the Gypsy style of dance???
Here are some links for this movie:

Re: Latcho Drom (Safe Journey)
Mon, July 27, 2009 - 6:30 PMAs for the Egyptian dancing, you want to look for somebody who teaches Ghawazee-style dance. Aisha Ali from LA and Habiba from Philly are well-respected for that.
As for the Turkish dancing with a special focus on Turkish Romani and Turkish oriental (the dance scene from Istanbul, as far as I recall, had some oriental), outstanding teachers include Artemis Mourat from DC and Eva Cernik from Denver.
